"Oddly enough, it seems easiest to start with who I’m not: I’m not a traditional film critic. I’m not a film professor. I’m not a published author on film. What I am is a seasoned fellow movie lover who advocates for the best films out there to stream."

As a native New Yorker, John grew up with a profound love for movies, spending afternoons watching films on local TV stations. He developed a passion for classic Hollywood films, particularly those in black and white, which sparked a lifelong connection to the art of cinema. Even though Princeton University didn’t offer a full film major, John took every available course, increasing his fascination with film as both art and entertainment.
After working in advertising for 17 years, John founded Best Movies by Farr to guide overwhelmed viewers to the best available films, focusing on quality rather than quantity.
