CAF + UCLA + USAT Provide Access to Sport For Individuals With Physical Disabilities

Proving The Challenged Athletes Foundation hosted a multi-sport camp at Drake Stadium at UCLA, introducing on swimming, racing, and cycling to a group of individuals with permanent physical disabilities. For many, it was their first time trying a new sport.

With adaptive equipment such as road racer, young athlete Mateo was able to run for the fist time ever. "For the fist time in his life, the wind is blowing in his hair. To see him do that with his own body is something I will never forget" said his mother Christina.

Michael Garafola, Adaptive Programs Coordinator at UCLA and camp coach didn't get into sports until 13 years after his injury. "We want to make sure that no is waiting. If someone wants to get into sports, we provide access because it's life changing."

Providing access to resources such as equipment, clinics, and community is how the Challenged Athletes Foundation is building inclusivity in sport. Learn more about upcoming clinics at https://www.challengedathletes.org/camps-clinics-schedule/.
