Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory message on March 19 to Russian President Vladimir Putin after his re-election, two days after Putin congratulated Xi Jinping on his re-election as Chinese president. Xi stated in the message that, currently, the China-Russia relationship is at its best in history. However, the two countries differ on their domestic agenda priorities, and critics say deeper economic cooperation has lagged behind political ones.
