The Tomorrow People: The Vanishing Earth: Ep 2 - titles/clip - "You will approach the Spidron!"
"The Tomorrow People" was a British children's science fiction television series, devised by Roger Price. Produced by Thames Television for the ITV Network, the series originally ran between 1973 and 1979.
The show concerned the emergence of the next stage of human evolution (homo superior) known colloquially as Tomorrow People. Born to human parents, an apparently normal child might at some point between childhood and late adolescence experience a process called "breaking out", when they develop their special abilities. These abilities include psionic powers such as telepathy, telekinesis, and teleportation.
The Tomorrow People operate out of a secret laboratory built in an abandoned London Underground station and are lead by the oldest TP, John (played by Nicholas Young). In addition to their psychic powers, they also use advanced technology such as the biological computer TIM, which is capable of original thought, telepathy, and can augment their psychic powers.
This clip is from episode 2 of the 1973 story "The Vanishing Earth" as the Tomorrow People (including resident totty Carol, played by Sammie Winmill) become concerned at the violent weather the Earth is experiencing. The second clip shows the TP's helper, Ginge (played by the late Michael Standing) coming face to face with the villain of the piece, the dreaded Spidron (John Woodnutt).
The title sequence and title music to the show remain impressive to this day.
