GREECE DESTROYED PERSIA TWICE IN ONE DAY | Battle of Eurymedon (466 BC)

In 466 BC, the Battle of Eurymedon became one of the most devastating double victories in ancient history.

Led by Cimon, the Greek fleet attacked the massive Persian force near the mouth of the Eurymedon River in Asia Minor.

Hundreds of Persian ships filled the coastline.

Then the Greeks struck.

Persian warships burned across the Mediterranean while Greek triremes smashed through the fleet with bronze rams and brutal boarding assaults.

But the battle did not end at sea.

Immediately after destroying the Persian navy, Greek hoplites landed directly onto the beaches and charged the Persian land army before it could reorganize.

Persia lost at sea and on land in the same day.

The Battle of Eurymedon shattered Persian power in the Aegean and secured decades of Greek dominance across the eastern Mediterranean.
