La Nueva Canción Chilena [Full Compilation]

1972 compilation of Chilean Nueva Canción music. Released by Discoteca del Cantar Popular (DICAP), the record label run by the youth section of the Communist Party of Chile (PCCh).

Established in 1968, the label operated in Chile until its offices were raided and destroyed during the 1973 coup of Chile's Unidad Popular Socialist government. However, exiled Chilean communists continued to run the label in Europe (based mostly in Paris and Amsterdam) until about 1980.

All of the artists and bands featured on the compilation were members of the PCCh, had been heavily involved cultural activism for the Party, and had participated in the establishment of the DICAP label.
