“An Evening with C.S. Lewis: My Life’s Journey” Q&A with David Payne and David J. Theroux.

Born in London, the renowned British actor, playwright, and director David Payne first encountered C.S. Lewis when, as a teenager, he was given a copy of Lewis’s bestselling book, "The Screwtape Letters." Little did he realize that decades later he would be portraying its famous author. He first landed the lead role of C.S. Lewis in the stage production of "Shadowlands." Subsequently, Payne has played the famous author in more than 800 performances of "An Evening with C.S. Lewis: My Life’s Journey," winning him countless accolades and thrilling over a million viewers. Payne has written plays inspired by the life and writings of C.S. Lewis, including "Target Practice," "St. Jack & The Dragon," and "Lewis and Tolkien: Of Wardrobes & Rings." His other plays include "Relative Surprise," "Prisoner of Passion," and "Weep for Joy."
David J. Theroux is Founder, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Independent Institute, Publisher of the quarterly journal "The Independent Review," and Founder and President of the C.S. Lewis Society of California. A contributor to "American Conservatism: An Encyclopedia," he has been a director of eight corporations and four foundations, and he has been a Juror for the Brock International Prize in Education as well as a member of the Nominating Committee for the Heinz Awards, William I. Koch Crime Commission, Prison Advisory Board for the California Little Hoover Commission, Board of Advisors of the Libertarian Christian Institute, and Executive Committee for the Templeton Collegiate Honor Rolls for Education in a Free Society. Having directed and published 140 scholarly books, books and films produced by Mr. Theroux have been the recipients of scores of awards. He received his B.S., A.B., and M.S. from the University of California at Berkeley and his M.B.A. from the University of Chicago.
