In Colton, California, Andre Thomas and leaders of His Way Spirit Led Assemblies, Daryl and Shelly Martin, face murder charges in the 2010 death of 4-year-old Timothy Thomas. Andre Thomas Jr., Timothy's brother, asserts his father is innocent, blaming the Martins for manipulating him and preventing medical care for Timothy, who died from appendicitis. Thomas Jr. describes the group's bizarre rituals and control, including separating families and prohibiting outside schooling. The case was reopened following the disappearance of another church member, Emilio Ghanem, who is presumed murdered. Shelly Martin and another member are suspects in Ghanem's death. Thomas Jr. believes the Martins are responsible for his brother's death due to neglect and deception.
