Summer hike through pine flatwoods on the UCF campus

In this video, UCF Arboretum director, Dr. Patrick Bohlen, takes you on a brief through the heart of a Florida pine flatwoods ecosystem on the UCF campus. This area is the the heart of the wildflower loop on campus, and it illustrates the success UCF has had in restoring native biodiversity in this area by implementing a successful prescribed fire program. UCF is a leader in applying prescribed fire the urban-wildland interface. The 10-acre area explored in this video has been through several successful prescribed burns, including one this past winter. You will see the diverse array of plants and animals who thrive in this area.
