Matt Scheimann was born in the late 1960s with something called craniosynostosis, a defect in the way the skull grows. It required surgery at Cincinnati Children's from a pediatric neurosurgeon, Dr. Robert McLaurin. Forty years later, Matt and Jenifer Scheimann's first son was born with no complications. Then came their second son, Colin, in 2002. Matt and Jenifer noticed early on that his forehead appeared to be bulging. They feared he had the same condition as his dad. They came back to Cincinnati Children's, and Dr. Kerry Crone, director of pediatric neurosurgery, performed the same surgery on Colin that his dad had years before. The family found that it was a problem that could be fixed because they were in the right hands for help.
