Dog Expert Cesar Millan on Training Humans

NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) - For people who have pet dogs who are excited and anxious, the problem often lies in the owner and not the dog, says TV host and 'dog whisperer' Cesar Millan.
"It's the human behind the dog that makes the dog that way," said the host of 'Cesar 911.'

An overly excited dog, one that can be difficult to calm down when someone rings the bell or comes inside, or even one that bites, needs to be handled with a relaxed state of mind.

"It's a big production to open the door in America," said Millan. "If I don't help the humans understand– we don't have problems with dogs and breeds—we have a problem with a society that is not educated. Your own energy can trigger a dog to bite no matter what breed it is," said Millan.

Millan adds that dogs don't know what you do for a living, they only know the energy you exhibit.

"Dogs don't follow unstable pack leaders, only humans do," said Millan.

Learn more from Millan and catch him in action this Friday at 9 p.m. on Nat Geo in season two of 'Cesar 911.'
