SMS Marketing. What organizations can benefit from SMS marketing?



Welcome to another episode of ‘What's Up’ from Intis.com. My name is Luanna and this time I have with me our first ever guest, James Williams, Director of Programmes with the Mobile Ecosystem Forum, MEF. Thanks for the invitation. I’ve now been with MEF for almost a year. We've got a lot of new members so MEF has grown and I'm sure we're going to be getting onto talking about the world of Business Messaging but that certainly has grown this year as well from talking to so many different members - including of course yourself and your Intis Telecom colleagues. Thank you very much for the warm welcome. My name is indeed James Williams. The Mobile Ecosystem Forum had its 20th birthday on February the 4th. Two-thirds of our 100+ members are Business Messaging companies from all around the world so Messaging plays a very very big part in what we do here at MEF. We're all about Interaction, Insight and Impact so ultimately we help grow members’ businesses, the mobile ecosystem as a whole - but not at the expense of the customer. We just want to make sure that customers are being protected, there's less fraud and less spam, whatever the channel used. That's what MEF is all about. I'm so glad that we joined MEF this year. It was an amazing year. We saw many events online and indeed from some in person and the growth of Business SMS volumes has been huge. Hearing from Mobilesquared (also a MEF member) about the huge growth of SMS and you just told me about something really interesting about Black Friday. I clearly talk regularly with so many of our members and one CEO of a very large messaging company mentioned that across the year they've seen their volumes increase 55 per cent. You can see posts on LinkedIn from other MEF members talking about big increases in volumes too.
