Vintage Motorhome Renovation Part 3 - Removing a Broken Roof Vent - 1990 Toyota Odyssey

We’ve made some progress on the floor and skirting but we’ve also uncovered even more water damage.

Also, no matter what anyone may tell you, DO NOT, Under any circumstances, use Gaco roof patch/sealant on your RV roof.

Someone who owned this rig previously attempted to stop leaks by coating layers upon layers of ancient silicone caulk and bad lap sealant with two or possibly three different types of residential roof seal, then went in with at least two coats of Gaco on top of it all.

The main reason why that is not wise is that residential products are not nearly flexible enough for an RV. Because of that, the product will crack and then the leak will come back.

Also, covering decades of piled on silicone and caulk with several layers of roof coating makes it nearly impossible to replace or repair anything on the roof...
