Immersed in Rene Magritte

A flashback to 2019, and a visit to a fully immersive digital presentation of the work of Belgian artist René Magritte. The show itself was held in a beautifully purposed 19th century industrial space in central Milan, which in itself is nod to Retromodernism. The show offered very few original paintings by Magritte, but what it did offer, was an absorbing and entertaining experience, during which you are quite literally bathed in light of the director. 34 Canon projectors filled the central space with a collage of Magritte's images. Love it or hate it, this was definitely an art experience for the digital age, and above all, enjoyed the benefit of being highly sharable on social media. The work of Magritte, also bears the classic hallmarks of Retromodernism, namely 1) The Imprinting 2) The Inspiration and 3) The Implementation.
