What is Retromodernism ?

In our first ever video, curator Angus James MacDonald defines the concept and the idea behind "Retromodernism", a new chapter in art history. He also presents some of the key artists working today, whose work can be described as Retromodernist (see below), and highlights one or two of their famous forbears. The video discusses a spiritual connection, which bonds the contemporary and classical artists, through the process of mixing classical forms with contemporary ideas.
As will become evident, this practice can be seen in art, as well as in design, architecture fashion, photography, cinema, and music.
