HOW TO BUILD A 500PS+ 8P RS3 [STAGE 3, HYBRID TURBO, WAVETRAC LSD, BILSTEIN, VERKLINE & MORE]

Do you want 500PS+ from your 8P RS3? This customer dropped off his 8P RS3 after wanting to go to Stage 3. Stage 3 typically entails a larger turbocharger, amongst other supporting upgrades.

This customer commented on oil consumption, which mixed with our pre-tuning health checks and oil in the intake and in the engine bay lead us to believe that there were issues in the bottom end and before we could install the upgrades or tune, we should investigate and possibly build the engine.

Upon inspection, the bores showed wear and material transfer. The decision was made to oversize the bore and install Mahle Motorsport pistons and forged connecting rods to solve the issues and upgrade away from the factory items which can fail with the higher output. All of the associated tolerances were checked and adjusted as required.

Whilst there are many turbo options for Stage 3, this customer opted for a fast spooling turbo which gives instantaneous low-down response with an excellent top-end. A combination that would see BIG gains all across the rev range, without any losses, whereas with a larger hybrid you'd have to accept the lazier response as a swap for a better top-end power output, should the customer want to upgrade later-on, the engine is built.

At the same time a Milltek cat-back exhaust was installed to replace the factory cat-back which would be restrictive at this power level alongside 200-cell HJS cats installed into the second position for emission compliance.

Handling is taken care of with BILSTEIN B14 coilovers which optimises the damping and spring-rates with coilover adjustment to get the ride height set to the customers preference. At the same time H&R anti-roll bars are installed to fine-tune the balance with Verkline and RacingLine adjustable drop-links set to setup the length correctly with the lower ride height.

For cooling Forge Motorpsorts's intercooler replaces the unknown intercooler which was already fitted, which will helps to keep the charge temps consistently cool and a HEL oil cooler kit is installed to help keep the oil consistently cool.

🔴 Baseline output = 395HP & 428lbfts (400PS & 580NM)
🟢 Max gains = +105HP & 92lbfts (106PS & 124NM)
🟢 Peak gains = +104HP & +58lbfts (105PS & 78NM)
🟢 Max output = 499HP & 486lbfts (506PS & 658NM)
