1998年の英国モーターショーでデビュー、リチャード・ウーリーのデザインによる、フラッグシップサルーンである。
旧き良き時代のローバーらしさの伝統を継承したレトロ感と、未来を融合した革新的なフォルムであった。

曲面と曲線を多用したインテリアは、ウォールナットのインパネとレザーシートのコンビネーションという英国伝統の手法を見事に踏襲しており、上級のバージョンである2.5コニサーは、パワーシートやサンルーフを装備し、アッパーグレードのオーディオシステムを装備している。

安全装備として全モデルにデュアル&サイドに加えて頭部保護機能を持つITSエアバッグ、EBD付きABS、トラクションコントロールを標準で装着している。

駆動方式はFF、5速ATが組み合わされ、搭載されるV型6気筒DOHC24バルブエンジンは、2497ccの排気量から、最高出力177ps(130kW)/6500rpm、最大トルク24.5kg・m(240.3N・m)/4000rpmを発揮した。

A flagship saloon designed by Richard Woolley, which made its debut at the 1998 British Motor Show.

The interior, which makes extensive use of curved surfaces and curves, splendidly follows the traditional British method of combining a walnut instrument panel and leather seats. Equipped with an audio system.
