If We Want Peace - We Have To Become Emotionally Intelligent - Part 1

In Transactional Analysis they talk about the Child Ego State. Eric Berne was a psychoanalyst so his ideas are based on psychoanalysis. Psychoanalysis is the ultimate healing environment, but, to a degree, what goes on there can occur in our intimate relationships, too. With emotional intelligence, we can create healing environments for us all. A healing environment is one where there is openness, trust, where anything can be said. The philosopher Martin Buber called it an I-Thou environment. If we want peace in the world, we have to create an I-Thou world. We have to stop acting out our unconscious childhood traumas and begin to verbalize them - at least to ourselves. The key is to look in places where you find the deepest, most intense feelings/emotions, and ask yourself - where in childhood did I experience something similar. What memories is this situation triggering in me? It may be a memory of an enveloping feeling without words. It could even be triggering a nonverbal memory of earliest childhood. In some way is this situation a situation I always find myself in because unconsciously I seek it to finish the unfinished business of my childhood? Am I re-creating a repetitive situation from my family of origin because that is the pattern of interaction I learned as a child?
How else could I behave in this situation - in what new way that is not typical for me? To get beyond the racket feelings that it was safe to feel in your childhood - ask yourself - what would the typical way to re-act to this situation be? What authentic feeling that it was not okay to feel in my family may be under the racket feeling that was okay to feel in my family?
