The Melanesians are the oldest and most numerous peoples of Oceania and may include island Melanesians such as Fijians as well as Indigenous Papuans and sometimes Australian Aboriginals as well. They are divided between hundreds of different linguistic and thousands of tribal groupings, making accurate internal classification extremely difficult to impossible at the current time since more research is needed to address the history and relations of these various groups with each other and outside influences. They are also unique for their high level of Denisovan admixture, the highest level of archaic humanoid intermixing of any people group in the world. Thanks for watching
