Getting Up Close and Personal with a Pair of Paper Wasps! (Did I get stung?)
Wasps actually do not sting for no reason.
In this video I get up close and personal with a pair of Paper Wasps, and walked away without a scratch.
If you get stung by a Wasp, it is probably because you unintentionally surprised it and made it feel threatened (they like to build their nests in secluded areas.)
The stinging process involves a Wasp injecting you with venom, a process which expends energy, and any wild animal wants to conserve as much energy as possible.
While highly aggressive if provoked, wasps actually don't want to sting you! These creatures are aposematic - meaning that they are brightly colored in order to warn predators of their venom. Getting up close with a wasp, you will notice their pulsating abdomen, which is a result of their respiration.
