Danger Noodle Snake Strikes at Me! Is it Venomous? (Southern Black Racer Snake)

This danger noodle is called a Black Racer.

It took a strike at me! (almost got me!)...

Luckily for me, these snakes are non-venomous.

In the video, I said that this was a Natrix snake.
That was incorrect, as the Natrix snakes (Natricinae, a subfamily of Colubridae) are the Water Snakes (primarily composed of the genus Nerodia and home to the famous Garter-Snake.)

This is a Colubrid snake (Colubridae,) which are harmless egg-laying snakes with smooth scales, whereas Natrix snakes are harmless live-bearing snakes with keeled scales. Both are in the same family.

Most all Colubrid snakes are rear-fanged, meaning they have to actually chew on their prey in order to envenomate it; however, if one of these suckers bites you, the fangs are the least of your worries as they have needle-sharp teeth in the front that will most definitely draw blood!

Please, please, PLEASE leave snakes alone if you encounter one in the wild.
They want nothing to do with you, and will NEVER attack you unless provoked.
If you see a snake, treat it with respect, and admire it from a SAFE distance.
If you want to see someone harass animals, here is the link to Coyote Peterson's channel:

This guy has no respect for animals and goes around exploiting every one that he finds just so that he can rake in cash from Youtube.

I hope you enjoyed!
