Skullgirls 2nd Encore: Squigly's Voiced Story Mode

For Halloween, I decided to start on another Story Mode playthrough, this time of the game's first DLC character: Squigly.

I have never actually used Squigly before, so I am VERY crappy with her since she feels even more different to play compared to what I'm used to. Please understand this as you enjoy learning of her story, here.

14 years ago, the wealthy Contiello family received a mysterious gift from a mysterious woman. Suddenly, the Medicis, a family they once had a strong bond with, stormed the household and killed everyone in it, including the owners' daughter, Sienna, who they endearingly nicknamed "Squigly".

Squigly was shot in the head by Black Dahlia. Squigly's mother, Selene, wished upon the Skull Heart, which was the gift she received from that woman. Squigly and the rest of the people that were killed by the Medici mobsters were reborn as zombies, and the matriarch, herself, became a Skullgirl. In response, Squigly's father, Roberto, sent a parasite known as Leviathan to protect his undead daughter at any cost.

14 years later, the undead Squigly has rewakened from her slumber, having been summoned for a rampage from the current Skullgirl: Bloody Marie! The Black Egrets were close by, and their leader, Princess Parasoul, personally wanted to fight Squigly & Leviathan, herself.

The undead team proved to be a formidable opponent to Parasoul, but before further actions could be made, the Skullgirl unleashed her attack on the escaping Medicis. Parasoul was forced to retreat to aid the citizens caught in the attack.

Later on, after realizing what has been done to her body, Squigly wanted to seek out the Medicis, too. Namely their leader: Lorenzo. She & Leviathan ran into Samson, a parasite to a girl named Filia, and a being that Leviathan has known for centuries.

Although Filia wanted to be friends with the zombie, Leviathan was concerned with Samson using her to get the Skull Heart. Samson decided to insult both of them, which drove them furious and forced Filia to fight back. After the fight, Filia was hesitant to stop on her Skull Heart quest, even though Leviathan knew that something bad will happen from it. He and Squigly planned their own quest to destroy the Skull Heart before the other team could reach it for a wish.

They eventually reached the catacombs of the Grand Cathedral, where Marie awaited them. Marie noticed that despite Squigly's undead life being connected to the Skull Heart, she managed to resist her control, and that both of them are after the Medici Mafia.

Squigly doesn't like the Skull Heart itself. Even though Marie used it to get her revenge, it's also corrupting her with hatred. Squigly fought Marie to break her out of it, even if it meant losing a chance to get back at the Medicis for good.

Squigly was very hesitant, but before she could truly make a decision, Double appeared and tried to grab her, but before she could, she was stopped by Filia & Samson. They teamed up with Squigly & Leviathan to bring the monster to her knees.

Double revealed that she was the mysterious woman that gave Squigly's mother the Skull Heart, and once she told the Medicis, they attacked her family. Bursting with anger, Squigly used Leviathan to finish Double off.

Filia finally understood why the Skull Heart should never be used, as it would only bring terror and sadness upon the world. With that said, Squigly destroyed it, and with it, Marie had vanished, as well.

However, because the Skull Heart's power was what turned Squigly into a zombie to begin with, she will now fall back into her slumber, truly dead, with Leviathan at her side forever, or at least until their next awakening...

They were then buried at a graveyard and Filia visited their tombstone, which read: "Here lie Sienna "Squigly" Contiello" & Leviathan. May They Rest In Peace Until We Meet Again".

Being post-release content, it appears that Squigly's Story Mode appears to be a bit more extravagant compared to this game's first 8 vanilla characters, such as more impressive artwork, lengthier conversations between characters, and even having another character assist Squigly at the end. Fighting someone AFTER beating Marie? That was unexpected!
