Czardas played on Popper Violin Piano pipes.

I built these pipes for a Popper Violin Piano that was missing its original violin pipes. These instruments were intended to sound like a solo violin accompanied by piano - similar to the Weber Violano and later the Unika. The Popper Violin Piano has two ranks of pipes fully enclosed in a chamber with swell shades for expression. The pipes sit in two rows facing each other with a long fan tremolo running down the center of the chest between the two ranks of pipes. Each rank has 33 pipes starting at E above middle C. In this video the pipes are playing on 6" wind and I have them tuned celeste to simulate vibrato. My understanding is that these are to be tuned unison once placed in the piano.

I didn't have access to an original set of Popper pipes to copy so I used the Weber Unika pipe scale and replaced the tuning shade with a tuning slide similar to Popper pipes. I used Weber's method of finishing the chamfer with glue sizing only and shellacking the rest of the exterior of the pipe. I'm assuming that Weber did this so that the thin upper lip would have the same finish inside and out thus helping to prevent movement of the lip due to humidity changes.
