NY visitors express support for Harry and Meghan
(9 Jan 2020) People visiting Times Square in New York City on Thursday reacted to Prince Harry and his wife Meghan's surprise statement about their future.
After years of growing tension with the press, the couple announced plans to quit their senior royal duties, move part-time to North America, seek financial independence and withdraw from regular media scrutiny.
Ashley Banuelos said she was initially "shocked" by the news but after some thought understood why Harry would want to step back from public life.
Karen Thompson, from North Carolina, said the couple "should be able to do what they want to do".
