Brexit talks: ‘We don’t expect the EU to act like some crazed divorcee’

talkRADIO's Mike Graham is joined by political commentator John Rentoul to dissect a weekend of tense Brexit negotiations, likening the talks to a divorce.

Mr Rentoul: “It’s damaging and humiliating for the EU to lose such an important member...it means they feel emotionally reluctant to give us a good deal.”

Mike: “But they should be more responsible than that as an institution…we don’t expect them to behave like some sort of crazed divorcee.”

Boris Johnson and European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen will talk to assess whether a trade agreement can be salvaged after the EU's chief negotiator Michel Barnier was said to have given a “downbeat” and “gloomy” assessment of progress.
