Jessica Retis, PhD is a globally recognized scholar in Latino media. Professor and Director of the School of Journalism, and Director of the Bilingual Journalism M.A. She is the first professor of color to be named director in the school's 72-year history. She was awarded the Center for University Education Scholarship Distinguished Fellowship for her research on bilingual journalism education in the United States. Dr. Retis has three decades of experience as a college educator in Mexico, Spain and the U.S., and two decades as a journalist in Peru, Mexico and Spain. She is currently the only Latina in the country directing a school of journalism with undergraduate and graduate programs. She served as Academic At-Large Officer of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ).
