Africa is building a “Great Green Wall” across the Sahara. The project, which is a band of vegetation 15 kilometers wide and 7,775 kilometers long, spans 11 countries, helping fight desertification due to climate change and poor land management, while increasing biodiversity and improving crop yields. By 2030, it is hoped the wall will restore 1 million square kilometers of land, capture 250 million tons of CO2 and generate 10 million jobs.
