This is number 22: The city of Ivanovo in Ivanovo Oblast

Whats up guys and welcome to a new video, this time from the capital of Ivanovo Oblast - Ivanovo. Founded in 1561, Ivanovo was a small village until the 18th Century. In 1742 the first textile mill was established in Ivanovo and more would follow later, and by the 19th century t was said that the whole village of Ivanovo had turned into a giant textile factory. In the mid-19th century an industrial revolution took place in Ivanovo as its workshops were mechanised and due to this Ivanovo became known as 'Russian Manchester' after the leading city of the textile trade at the time. I’m from very very near Manchester, so this is very interesting for me. So many women flocked to Ivanovo to find work that it began to be called the 'City of Brides' as it was believed to be the ideal place to find a bride among the many female textile workers. Even now in Russia everyone knows Ivanovo as the city of brides, and that’s the number one thing any Russian from outside the city would tell you about it.
