West Kelowna dentist explains Perio Protect® for Bleeding Gums | Periodontal Gum Disease
Periodontal Gum Disease West Kelowna | West Kelowna dentist explains Perio Protect® for Bleeding Gums
Dr. Shauna Palmer, dentist in West Kelowna, explains Perio Protect® - a solution for bleeding gums.
What is periodontal (gum) disease?
Periodontal gum disease can cause permanent damage to the bone and gums surrounding the roots or the teeth. It starts with plaque spreading and growing in the gum line. This plaque harbors harmful bacteria which creates toxins and then irritates and inflames the gums.
At this point, the bacteria penetrate the bloodstream – endangering organs, tissue, vessels and potentially harms the fetus. The bone and tissue that supports the teeth start to break down and lead to a multitude of complications.
What are the symptons of periodontal gum disease?
Symptoms
Bleeding gums when brushing or flossing
Receding gums
Bad breath
Obvious plaque, tartar or calculus
Teeth are loose or mobile
Spaces developed between your teeth
Swollen, red or tender gums
Sensitive teeth
