Setting a Marquise Stone for Faceted and Cabochon Gemstones
Learn how to set a stepped bezel, marquise-shaped stone. This video is the third in a series on creating a marquise setting (video 1), a split shank ring (video 2), and setting the stone (this one!). This setting is great for both faceted and cabochon marquise stones.
I'd make practice settings with copper or brass/bronze (closer to sterling in metal hardness) before working with silver. Make 5 or 6, and give it a shot!

Flush Setting 3 Ways (part 1): https://youtu.be/FKgO3ntTupk - (see 5:02 to make a punch/burnisher). The only difference is that you want to flatten the end instead of rounding it. If you want a burnisher, follow the directions in the video. Be careful when using the burnisher, as you can scratch your stone. I wouldn't use it with a soft stone like an opal. If you are making a punch, just flatten and polish the tip.
