The pace of life continues to increase at a rapid rate. Sometimes we move so quickly we do not take the time to engage with our surroundings and are all too likely to conform to norms out of convenience. Through my talk, I hope to awaken awareness in people's hearts as a way to inspire individuality. Esther Liu is a Grade 10 student from Shanghai Qibao Dwight High School. As a result of her life experiences and academic studies, Esther has observed that conformity to social expectations is currently over-valued, and is concerned with how those who act and/or think differently are undeservedly disregarded. She was inspired by the opportunity to stand on stage and speak for those minority groups searching for understanding from both their own community and the wider world.
