[Longplay, No Commentary] MechWarrior 2: 31st Century Combat (DOS, 1995) Play-through Part 1 of 2

MechWarrior 2 is the sequel to MechWarrior (1989). It was released in 1995 for DOS and Windows. I'm playing the DOS version. The game is set during the Refusal War between Clan Wolf and Clan Jade Falcon. Basically, the Clan invasion of Inner Sphere went south and the opposing Clan factions are upset amongst themselves. Part 1 of the play-through tells the story from the perspective of Clan Jade Falcon.

The game-play is simple -- you are free to customise mechs as you like and field them as long as the stipulated weight limits are observed. Mission objectives usually require you to move from Point A to Point B and destroy stuff, or protect some stuff from enemies. You may choose to bring and lead some squad mates in some missions. From time to time, you will be put for a Trial of Position where you take down fellow Clansmen for a promotion or two =D.

As someone who had not played this before, I can see why this instalment of MechWarrior is widely considered to be the best in the series. I had decent fun having played it now, it is not hard to imagine how great it was 26 years ago. I'm surprised that my Logitech Extreme 3D Pro would work with this game under DOSBox. Though, I don't know how to set its sensitivity and deadzone so I pilot and shoot like a freebirth D=.
