About The Video:

This is part 2 of my series exploring some of the things I look out for when I'm choosing new traders to copy on eToro.

In part 1, I went over the star system briefly, and talked about the "Minimum copy amount" recommendation which traders on eToro often suggest in their bio:

https://youtu.be/_TkvRBl4-7k

Today I'm focusing on the recommendation to "Copy Open Trades" which I regularly see on different traders' profiles.

So we look into what open trades are on eToro, and just why these traders are recommending we copy them.

Whenever we copy a new trader, we're presented with the option of whether we'd like to copy their open trades or not. If we do, then we copy all of the open positions which they currently have in their portfolio AND any new position which they open after we start copying them (provided we've copied them with enough money...)

If we choose NOT to copy open trades, then we won't copy any of their currently open positions, but instead will only start to copy the trades they make AFTER we start copying them.

It's a different strategy, so I go over some potential reasons why they may be suggesting the former rather than the latter.

The first has to do with how long they'll take to use up the funds we've copied them with (a very frequent source of complaints from people who make a mistake when copying...) and the second has to do with how their portfolio represents the trader's overall strategy rather than just being a collection of individual, disconnected trades...
