[Upgrading Vintage lens housing] "Mini" Cine Type_Super - Takumar 50mm f1 .4_8 element version.

Until recently, the standard specification of cinema lenses (front 114mm and filter thread 95mm) has been adhered to, which has made the lens too large and inconvenient to carry and mount for shooting. The recent trend of cinema lenses is also to miniaturize them in consideration of use on gimbals and drones, and I followed this trend by referring to the type of small and lightweight mini cinema lenses.

The front diameter is 70mm, the filter thread is 67mm, and it is designed to be easily attached and fixed with an M3 screw by wrapping it around the lens, considering the easy installation and simple fixing without putting a strain on the existing lens housing. The rear of the lens uses an M42 to EF adapter, which greatly helps to stabilize the finish and housing. Therefore, I strongly recommend using the front filter step up ring and rear mount adapter.

The gearing design is based on the M0.8 standard, which prevents slipping when focusing with or by hand. If you like rubber and need it, you can also cut and attach a pre-made rubber follow focus gear to the desired length. The gear and base are bonded with an easy-to-find and strong instant adhesive. In the video, there was a problem with the glue sticking to other parts during the process of attaching the gear to the inside of the gear. It is good to apply the glue to the base part where the gear will be attached and then attach the gear.

The Takumar lens is a prime lens for vintage cameras using the M42 mount. It has good optical performance, excellent manual operation, and a small size, making it suitable for making mini cinema prime lenses. Moreover, the price is very cheap and it is a product that was sold a lot in the past due to its popularity, so it is easy to find. However, it is regrettable that Takuma lenses have different types of lenses with slightly different appearances depending on the production period, even though they have the same specifications. There are also lenses made of optical glass with radiation detection issues, and I think these lenses are not good in terms of the balance of color reproduction due to the 'yellowing' problem, so I tried to exclude this type of lens as much as possible.

The Super Takuma 50mm f1.4 7-element lens was excluded from modeling as it is a typical lens for radiation detection issues. The 8-element version is relatively hard to find compared to the 7-element version, but we thought it was a pretty attractive lens, so we custom designed an upgraded housing for this lens.

(In the test at the end of the video, the resolution setting was recorded in DCI 4k, but the YouTube video was uploaded in FHD, so it is not suitable for testing resolution.)

그동안 시네마 렌즈의 표준 사양(전면 114mm 및 필터 나사산 95mm)을 고수해 왔는데, 이로 인해 렌즈가 너무 크고 촬영을 위해 휴대하고 장착하기가 불편했습니다. 최근 시네마 렌즈의 트렌드도 짐벌과 드론에서의 사용을 고려하여 소형화하는 추세인데, 이러한 트렌드에 따라 작고 가벼운 미니 시네마 렌즈의 종류를 참고했습니다.

전면 직경은 70mm, 필터 나사산은 67mm로 기존 렌즈 하우징에 부담을 주지 않고 간편한 설치와 간단한 고정을 고려하여 렌즈에 감싸 M3 나사로 쉽게 부착 고정할 수 있도록 설계되었습니다. 렌즈 후면은 M42-EF 어댑터를 사용하여 마감과 하우징을 안정화하는 데 크게 도움이 됩니다. 따라서 전면 필터 스텝 업 링과 후면 마운트 어댑터를 사용하는 것이 좋습니다.

기어링 디자인은 M0.8 표준을 기반으로 하여 초점을 맞추거나 손으로 초점을 맞출 때 미끄러지는 것을 방지합니다. 고무를 좋아하고 필요하다면 미리 만들어진 고무 팔로우 포커스 기어를 원하는 길이로 잘라 부착할 수도 있습니다. 기어와 베이스는 찾기 쉽고 강력한 순간 접착제로 결합됩니다. 영상에서는 기어를 기어 안쪽에 붙이는 과정에서 접착제가 다른 부품에 달라붙는 문제가 있었습니다. 기어가 붙을 베이스 부분에 글루를 바르고 기어를 붙여주면 좋습니다.

Takuma 렌즈는 M42 마운트를 사용하는 빈티지 카메라용 단 렌즈입니다. 광학 성능이 우수하고 수동 조작이 우수하며 크기가 작아 미니 시네마 프라임 렌즈 제작에 적합합니다. 게다가 가격도 매우 저렴하고 예전에 인기가 많아 많이 팔렸던 제품이라 쉽게 구할 수 있습니다. 다만 타쿠마 렌즈는 같은 사양이라도 생산 시기에 따라 조금씩 모양이 다른 렌즈의 종류가 다르다는 점은 아쉽습니다. 방사선 검출 문제가 있는 광학 유리로 된 렌즈도 있는데, 이 렌즈들은 '황변' 문제로 색 재현의 밸런스가 좋지 않은 것 같아서 이런 종류의 렌즈는 최대한 배제하려고 노력했습니다.

슈퍼 타쿠마 50mm f1.4 7요소는 방사선 검출 이슈의 최정점에 있는 렌즈이므로 모델링 대상에서 제외하였고, 7요소 버전에 비해서 상대적으로 구하기 어렵지만 8요소 버전이 꽤 매력있는 렌즈라 생각해서 이에 업그레이드 하우징을 맞춤 설계했습니다.

(영상 말미 테스트에서 해상도 설정은 DCI 4k로 녹화했는데, 유튜브 영상은 FHD로 업로드 되어서 해상도 테스트에 적합하지 않습니다.)
