Tokina AT-X pro 28-70 f/2.6-2.8 is a lens that I enjoy using for video shooting. This lens is available in Nikon F-mount, Canon EF-mount, and Minolta A-mount versions, but I prefer the Nikon F-mount version with an operating ring that allows me to set the aperture value from the lens.

The previous version was too large and I wanted to make an improved version that is more convenient to use. The Tokina AT-X pro 28-70 f/2.6-2.8 is custom designed for the Nikon F-mount, so it is not suitable for other mount versions. (The EF-mount version has the opposite focus ring rotation direction from close to infinity, and the aperture control ring is not on the outside of the lens.)

To secure the attached improved housing more firmly, the rubber material on the focus ring and zoom ring was removed. A window was made in the housing on the top of the lens to be able to see the existing focus distance display and zoom focal length display. And on the side of the lens, the reference points and information were displayed in text on the outside of the housing to be able to check the distance display and zoom focal length setting.

The AF and MF toggle switch on this lens is operated by a push-pull clutch (One-touch Focus Clutch Mechanism) on the focus ring, but the improved housing version limits the operation of the push-pull clutch, so only manual focus is available. During the housing process, a special button (a small protrusion-type switch near the aperture ring) that connects the aperture settings of the Nikon camera must be removed. This is a device that is required for recent Nikon cameras, but I have no plans to use it with a Nikon camera, so I removed it.

Six "M2.5" x 8mm bolts are required to secure the housing.
