Celebrations Chatter with Jim McCann; Combating Food Insecurity with Dr. Patrick O'Shaughnessy

Dr. Patrick O’Shaughnessy, President and CEO of Catholic Health has an intense focus on quality and performance and is transforming their system of six hospitals, 17,000 employees, and a network of facilities and physicians, to advocate prevention as the best defense toward fighting diseases.

Partnered with Smile Farms 12th campus, Catholic Health is also serving those who are specifically dealing with mental health diagnoses and behavioral challenges through donated produce. The produce supported by Smile Farms, will support Catholic Health’s Food Insecurity Initiative, which screens emergency room patients for signs of food insecurity. If patients are deemed in need, they’re given a “to-go” bag filled with fresh, healthy food options. The program will also provide direct referrals to community-based organizations to identify resources for regular access to healthy foods.
