People often do a double take when Lee Senderov shares what industry she works in. It doesn’t surprise her though - she understands it may be difficult for some people to imagine working in death care.

At Celebrations Chatter, we frequently host discussions about mortality to provide resources for our community and normalcy around end-of-life dialogue. These talks give me a sense of perspective and my conversation with Lee is no exception.

Lee is Chief Marketing and Digital Officer at Foundation Partners Group, an organization that has been leading the funeral industry in innovation and compassionate care. In our interview together, Lee and I trace her career from food photographer to the deathcare industry (a fascinating leap, if I might add), how innovation and technology are changing funerals today, and the ways rituals around death and remembrance have shifted over the years.
