For Unreported World, reporter Minnie Stephenson goes to Tennessee, the first US state to pass a so-called ‘drag ban’.

Drag Queen Story Hours, where cabaret artists read stories to children in libraries and coffee shops across the United States, have met widespread opposition from militias, activists and soccer mums, who fear drag queens are harmful to children.

At least fifteen Republican controlled states are now introducing legislation to stop drag performances where they can be seen by kids. Our reporter visits the Story Hours that haven’t succumbed to death threats, meets their opponents, and the drag queens who feel they are the latest target in a wider LGBTQ+ crackdown.
