Ideas from Outside the Mainstream

In this clip (7 of 9), Dr. Briggs discusses that ideas from outside mainstream medicine are not new. The Lamaze childbirth method, breastfeeding, and hospice care/support, for example, were, at one time, considered non-mainstream.
This clip is part of a lecture by Josephine P. Briggs, MD, Director of the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM), NIH, on "Ten Years of Research on Complementary and Alternative Medicine: Promising Ideas from Outside the Mainstream." This lecture, given at NIH in 2010, is part of the NCCAM Online Continuing Education Series. Free CME/CEU credit is available to health professionals (see http://nccam.nih.gov/training/videolectures).
