How did man live so long before the flood?

I'll be answering the question on how man was able to live for so long prior to the flood account that we find starting in Genesis chapter 6. It has to do with the "canopy theory" and here are some links that discuss and others, that try to debunk it. Either way it's interesting. What are your thoughts?
