As the sun rose on Sunday morning the temperatures did as well and racers of the fourteen classes readied themselves for a scorching hot day of eliminations (temperatures hovered around 100 degrees).

The premier class of every Man Cup event, Pingel Top Fuel, certainly had the crew chiefs scratching their heads as they tried to find a clutch and power setup to navigate the tricky track conditions. Advancing into round two would be a “who’s who” of the Top Fuel category.

Larry “Spiderman” McBride would face fellow veteran racer Chris Hand and the Redneck Express. Meanwhile, Korry Hogan and the Alwine Racing bike would have number one qualifier Dave Vantine.

In what looked to be possibly one of the better races we would see for the weekend, Hand and McBride were neck and neck at the eighth mile, unfortunately shortly after that McBride lost some cylinders and the Redneck Express took the win.

In the other semi-final matchup, the outcome was similar as both racers were side by side at half-track only to have problems slow Vantine giving the Alwine Racing team the win.

Chris Hand versus Korry Hogan for all the marbles, that was the Top Fuel Final and it was over just as quickly as it started. By the time they had passed the tree Hogan was up in tire smoke and the Redneck Express streaked away for the win.
