Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) Treatment tips & help for intrusive thoughts.

An experienced teacher talking about how he understands the symptoms of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and the top treatment tips to help recover from GAD, rOCD, Pure O, HOCD, POCD.

OCD sits on top of anxiety and is primarily a symptom rather than the real problem, therefore by focusing on your compulsions, seeking reassurance and pandering to your fears you are missing working treating the cause of this anxiety disorder, which is emotional exhaustion, a erroneously programmed amygdala, negative thinking loops and the biggest trap, which is, thinking that thoughts are real and that your emotions are true!

By recognising patterns of behaviour you can understand OCD in new ways - you can see that there is a way to manage and even eliminate OCD as it is a condition and not a disease! Exposure response therapy and a new way of looking at yourself, as well as, life are key to a quieter mind and a calmer body.

I can help you to understand #ObsessiveCompulsiveDisorder and ease the symptoms of anxiety, GAD, Pure O and all the variations of #OCD. Cleaning, counting, checking, thinking, avoiding germs, intrusive thoughts, the list goes on...

If you are a smart thinker with an analytical mind - you will like my work and really benefit from my empowering strategies. However, if you feel victimised by the anxiety or OCD, you probably won't!! (But this is the nature of the beast.)

I help people to understand that it is not a disease and their mind is not broken, in fact, it is quite the opposite, their mind is so creative it can come up with incredible thoughts that feel like they are true, so true in fact, that even their body responds as if it was true and it scares them, I guess at a certain level everybody does that, surely that is what a nightmare or a fantasy is?

By teaching you how the mind works, where the thoughts come from and how the body responds to the thoughts as if they were real, you can begin to interrupt the ruminations and slowly release the rituals.

Then you are ready for the next step which is working with the unconscious mind which has automated your fear responses so they just ‘fire off’ when the old stimulus arises i.e. when you see a discarded sticky plaster on the floor thoughts of germs may jump into your mind and the body just automatically (and unconsciously) jumps into an alert stress mode. We need to work together to ‘retrain’ your mind to let go of those out of date responses. It is not easy but it is possible, however, you will need to be vigilant, dedicated and you will have to lean into the fear a little.
