What I Learned From Running A Marathon
26.2 miles and over 50lbs lost in less than one year, and over 73 weeks of working out at least 3 times a week, with an average of 8 times. Over 1000 miles ran this year 2022 alone and less than 0 in last decades. I say that not to show off, but to tell you guys, life can change the minute you decide you want to change it, and the results can be quicker than you think.

1. All things that I learned on this race
Small Mistakes can Compound into disaster
I always heard that a small good habit can change your life
That a small drop of water can make a hole in a rock after a while
But a small mistake can also cost you a lot, If let alone to compound
Let me explain;
My goal was simple, running at a 9 minute mile pace for 26.2 miles
However when I got to mile 17 I hit this wall and I couldn’t understand what was happening ( I went from strong to doubtful )
And when doubt entered my mind and I responded with I’m not quitting, my body gave me excuses to stop, Bathroom, tired, rest blah blah blah
But I realized my mistake was carrying a leter of water for 17 miles when they gave out water in the marathon ( what I was use to carrying for 20 miles, felt like a bolder for 17 miles at that pace )
Your Mind quits before your body does
Its so important to present evidence to the mind before it starts asking questions
The 40% rule is not what you think it is, its what it is ( when you don’t have anything left that’s the 40% rule starts
Have an answer for why ( I want to be the best version of myself, I want to represent testimony for God, I want control over my life, this is a mix of nice and selfish goals, but its my truth, and I cant lie 3 hours in a race )
And have proof that you can do it ( quitting at mile 17 made no sense, because I’ve done more )
Preparing, Confidence and Faith ( leave the Ego at the door )
The Navy Seals have this powerful quote, “ you don’t rise to the occasion you sink to your level of training”
Its why its so important you trained hard, you prepare for the problems that will arise, and you built up strength
I love suffering, its hard to say that when you hate living it, but I love what it brings out of me ( the bibles says in Proverbs 17:3 “ in the same way that gold and silver are refined by fire, the lord purifies your heart by the test and trials of life”
I don’t grow being comfortable I grow being uncomfortable
2. The good things I did before the race
I ran my own race
I didn’t care if people passed me, you don’t compete and take souls in the beginning you do it at the end
And I passed 4 people and had one of my fastest times at the end
People asked how… because God
I did all the Prep without complaining
I ran the long 20 mile runs, the 30+ miles weeks and I let my body recover
I didn’t stop and I didn’t give up
I knew running this race was going to be more evidence that I can do amazing things because God strengthens me
It was going to fortify my faith
3. My mistakes
Time
Woke up to close to the race, it started at 5am and I was up by 4am, I should woken at least 2 hours earlier ( and gone to the bathroom )
Carrying a Liter of Water for 17 plus miles ( showing my splits )
That cost my time maybe
But next time I’ll be ready
4. In the end
When I was in fire, I thought about God, my family and the people I told I was going to do this
That’s what kept me running
