How I Would Learn About Money And Investing (If I Could Start Over)

I remember seeing this movie when I was a kid, it was called click with Adam Sandler, and he had this remote, that could work in the real world. So, you could literally fast forward to the future, go back in time and even pause people ( and let me tell you my 13-year-old brain going through puberty had some bad ideas)

But overall, I’ve giving that idea a lot of thought, if I could back what would I change, and although the right answer is Nothing; I do see a lot of mistakes that made, and I’d like to passed on to you, so this way you can avoid certain mistakes I made or do certain things that i did that had a big affect on me.

1. College vs Self Education ( it worked for me to consistently have to return to a place I hated to learn faster and better )

-Everything I know today, about 95% worth of the information I learned on my own, some of it from books, some of it from life and a lot of it from other people

2. More productive reading ( not all reading is smart reading )

-Content is a business, and reading 30 self help books, isn’t going to help
-You’ll become like my friend, filled with positives and no actions or results to follow it
-Now when you first start, you’ll need a lot of those self help books to reprogram your brain but you have to careful to become complacent
3. Barriers to Entry don’t exist in this game ( I always wanted to wait until I had my first 10k to invest or some other stupid number I made up ) but its better to start with $10 than to wait any longer )

4. Being in a Rush: The finish line is this game is Death ( and I’ve spoiled myself several times in the name of YOLO and I always feel the same after Spoiled and during I feel guilty )

5. Learn from Best but Don’t become the those People: people are very good at somethings and horrible at others; when I first started learning I wanted to become a duplicate of a lot those people, but that’s stupid. Take what you like and leave what you don’t ( the chains of habit are to light to be felt until they are to heavy to be broken )

6. Deep Work vs 16 hour days ( plus delegation )

-I don’t want drama but we know Gary is famous for this stuff

-But the idea that you can't work on something for 16 hours and be focused is stupid

-Once you find out about DEEP Work and the 80-20 rule, you see that a 4 hour day is more than enough time to get work done

8. Believing in a lot of Rule of Thumps: We want formulas, we want exact instructions but in this money game, the only guaranteed thing is disappointment along the road but becoming rich if you stick to it



9. You cant help anyone, that doesn’t want to be help. I grew up with a Mom that was always passive, loving and caring. I took those qualities and I wanted to add Persistent to it, meaning I wanted to help people know what I know but when they wouldn’t listen I would keep going. Truth is, people change when they are ready not when you want then too. Its like trying to get a friend to leave a bad boyfriend, they’ll listen and agree and then turn around and do whatever they want to.


10. Double Down on what works and Let go of what doesn’t ( and that not just money )
