Italian First Time Eating Duhat Fruit in the Philippines! The weirdest fruit I tasted!
Good day, everybody! How are you guys doing? We hope you are all doing well. It’s another hot summer day in a life under lockdown! This lockdown had been quite an experience and we are learning to cope and adjust with the situation. So far, I had the opportunity to try different things and taste many local fruits and dishes for the first time. Today, my wife introduced me to DUHAT! There are a couple of big old duhat trees in the farm that are starting to ripen. According to my wife, Duhat is a popular summer fruit in the Philippines. It has dark purple to almost black color when ripe. It also has health benefits such as a rich source of calcium, iron and antioxidants. It is also used to treat diabetes. The fruits can be used in making wine while the bark and leaves can be used for making tea.

We mixed the ripe fruits with salt and then I tried to taste a couple of fruits for the first time and to my surprise, I felt it tastes weird. At first, it tastes sweet but then it also gives a dry feeling in the mouth. I haven’t tasted anything like this before. It does not taste bad, but it does taste very weird for me.
