Moby Dick Whale (1955)
London Zoo.
L/S of a lion cage with people around it watching the lions. Camera pans to a long shot of Moby Dick. Moby Dick is a model of the head of the famous whale built at Elstree film studios "under guidance of experts from the National Institute of Oceanography" for the film 'Moby Dick'. However, it is still frightening, claims the voiceover.
Cut to C/U shot of a big brush cleaning Moby's teeth. A man's legs are seen behind the teeth. M/S of the man brushing Moby's tongue with a big brush. People are watching the keeper cleaning the huge model. C/U tilting shot from the whale's upper jaw down to the lower jaw reveals two rows of lethal teeth. C/U of a hand cleaning the eye of the great whale.
"Moby - if he were real - would have come from the Azores but there are none in captivity, of course" - informs the voiceover.
Cut to a M/S of a strange looking creature in the arms of a keeper. Audience learns that he is a rare kind of monkey from Nigeria - Potto. His name is Frosty and he is still a baby. C/U shot of Potto playing with the keeper's fingers - extremely cute.
L/S of Moby Dick's profile. He is surrounded by people, mostly children, who are admiring his size and beauty. Cut to a C/U of the little Potto Frosty admiring the face of his keeper. "He'd rather keep a keeper for a pet, any day" - says narrator.
