Boston University Undergraduate Degree Commencement Ceremony 2021

Boston University’s 148th Commencement looked like none before it. City and state pandemic protocols and the need for social distancing resulted in the annual All-University Commencement being split into two ceremonies this year, one for advanced degree graduates in the morning and one for bachelor’s degree grads in the afternoon, with grounds crew sanitizing on Nickerson Field between the two. Among other distinguished speakers, US Representative Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass.), delivered the undergraduate commencement address to the Class of 2021. Pressley is an advocate, community activist, United States Representative for Massachusetts’ 7th Congressional District, and an original member of The Squad, a group of progressive members of Congress under 50. Her career is rooted in the belief that a diversity of voices is essential and that those closest to pain should also be closest to power.
