This restoration process for a moldy 17th-century rare book meant to demonstrate a restoration process under limited or very small budget and absent of most conservation equipment and in a limited time. This assignment was a good experience to my teamwork and me to work on a project that has a limited budget.
challenges were
The time (only 8 days available)
The conservation materials were limited
The tools were basic
Teamwork:
Sherif Afifi
Wael Mohamed
Mei Bayomi
Ahmed Adel
Heba Sherif
Sara Ismael
Yaser Abdelrady
Reham Tarek
#teamwork
Disclaimer:
Before giving this object to the students, it has been treated to be sure that the molds are not active. In addition, most of the conservators believe that using gloves in many cases make them clumsy and more likely to create more damage to the object.
Molds are dangerous and detrimental to health. You should take into account all the necessary handling precautions. In case of active molds, I urge you to use gloves and mask to handle these moldy materials.
