Rose Geranium Clay Soap (cold process) with Diagonal Pour Technique

This is such a beautiful soap. I make this for my friend Alison a few times a year 💕 She just loves that natural rosy scent! This video demonstrates the complete making of this diagonal pour cold process soap, with attention paid to the preparation, pouring and cutting of the soap. The recipe is provided below.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION
Sodium hydroxide and potassium hydroxide (lyes) used in soap making, in granular or flake form or in solution with water/other liquids, as well as raw soap batter, are highly corrosive and require careful and attentive handling and the proper use of personal protective equipment. Please watch this video to learn more about essential soap making safety precautions: https://youtu.be/EZTsW9UvNmU

RECIPE
My mould used in this video is 37cm long, 7cm wide and 5.7cm deep
It holds 1.480kg of soap batter (1000g base oils is a good amount for this mould).
To work out the base oil amount for your mould, see this video https://youtu.be/ZguW6J3Jj2Q

For this soap, I made two identical half-sized batches, each with 500g base oils. The quantities given below are for one half-sized batch. Two halves are needed to make the entire soap.

Half batch:
70% olive oil - 350g
20% coconut oil - 100g
5% castor - 25g
5% cocoa butter - 25g

Water 118g (1.7:1 water to lye ratio/37% lye concentration solution)
Sodium hydroxide 69g (4% superfat calculated into the recipe)

White kaolin clay - 1 teaspoon
Or pink clay - 1/2 teaspoon (use one colour for each half)

Essential oils - 35g needed for the entire soap, so 2 lots of 17.5g are needed for each half batch.

To make 17.5g blend for each half, mix:
14.9g rose geranium essential oil
2.6g rosewood essential oil
*Note, due to the issue of rosewood trees facing extinction in their natural habitat, I will no longer be using rosewood essential oils once my current bottle is empty. Ho Wood essential oil is a good sustainable substitute for rosewood essential oil.
