| Urmia, Iran, June 16, 2019 - Russia and Canada battled in Urmia on Saturday with last year's VNL winners claiming a three-set victory.

Russia Head Coach, Tuomas Sammelvuo: "It is a tough tournament. We do not play in the level that we like. We should take everything. In the first set, we won a hard set. They have a very good and organized team. We were nervous in some periods and that should not happen."

"About the atmosphere of the stadium, I should say it is a huge experience for us to play here. In Urmia you can enjoy volleyball. To be in this situation is the reason we play volleyball. Of course we may lose but we fight. We should be a good example for the youngsters."

Russia Captain, Igor Kobzar: "It was an important game for us. We had to win. All the teams are tough rivals and it is really hard to win. About the match, I should say we are fully satisfied. Now we move up in the table."

"I have good memories of Saeid Marouf. We were good teammates in Kazan. We always helped each other."

Canada Head Coach, Glenn Hoag: "Today we were better than yesterday. Of course we had problems in certain times. We had a young setter in the team. It was his first match as the main setter of the national team."

Canada Captain, Nicholas Hoag: "Congratulations to Russia. In comparison to last match, we were much better in this match. We made fewer mistakes on serves."
